One size does not fit all. Our on-site training courses are tailored to meet the specific needs of individual clients. The following are typical examples that may be modified to meet your requirements. We can help you determine how to best meet your laser safety training needs. All courses include hazard analyses for your lasers, free use of EASY HAZ™ Laser Hazard Analysis software, and after class support when you need it.

Laser Safety Overview

Lasers used in industrial, manufacturing and research organizations have numerous applications that present both laser beam and non-beam hazards. This 90 minute overview meets all the training requirements of OSHA and ANSI Z136.1 “Safe Use of Lasers” standard. In addition to the training, our consultant will take a walk-through with your LSO and review control measures for your laser areas. Each attendee will receive a set of printed course notes and a certificate of completion. Price is dependent on location and number of attendees.

Laser Safety Awareness (LSA)

This one-day Laser Safety Awareness course is appropriate for laser maintenance and service personnel in industrial environments and for all laser users in research environments. In the industrial version we use your laser systems for examples and adjust the pace and level of detail to your particular audience. In the research version we assume a higher level of technical expertise, include a wider range of research examples, and increase the pace and level of detail as appropriate. In all classes we perform hazard analyses for your laser systems and include discussions of hazard conditions and control measures in your workplace.  All Kentek laser safety courses are taught by a Certified Laser Safety Officer (CLSO) and meet all the training requirements of OSHA and ANSI Z136.1 “Safe Use of Lasers” standard. 6 hours of training (approximate). Each attendee will receive a set of printed course notes and a certificate of completion. Price is dependent on location and number of attendees.

2-Day Applied Laser Safety

The topics of this course are the same as our Laser Safety Awareness course, but some areas are expanded to meet the specific needs of your laser workers.

For industrial laser users, we can include more information about your laser systems and applications from our Basics of Laser Technology course. For research organizations we can supplement with more information about hazard analysis and selection of proper control measures to provide the necessary training for end users in the lab. The two-day format allows more time for auditing your laser areas and addressing your specific laser safety issues.

Laser Safety Officer (LSO) Training

Kentek can bring our classroom Industrial, Administrative or Comprehensive LSO training to your facility.  Descriptions of these courses can be seen on pages 6-7 of this briefing.  Kentek can also develop a customized onsite LSO training to meet your specific needs.  All Kentek LSO courses are taught by a Certified Laser Safety Officer (CLSO) and meet all the training requirements of OSHA and ANSI Z136.1 “Safe Use of Lasers” standard.  Each attendee will receive a set of printed course notes and a certificate of completion.  Price is dependent on location, duration and number of attendees.

LSA + LSO Training

Many organizations have multiple employees that require different levels of laser safety training.  Kentek can provide LSA training along with LSO training all at the same time.  The first day of training will include all the basic information that a service, maintenance or end user would need to know.  The remainder of the training will consist of specific duties and responsibilities that a LSO must perform according to ANSI Z136.1 “Safe Use of Lasers” standard.

Flexible Training Program Design

We can design a training program to meet the needs of several student groups with the maximum efficiency and minimum cost. For industrial laser users we often conduct a half-day Laser Safety Awareness course in the morning for all personnel working in laser areas. Then in the afternoon, laser maintenance personnel continue with the remainder of the topics for Applied Laser Safety that pertain to their jobs.

We can also provide a one-day Applied Laser Safety course followed by a second day for those with LSO or DLSO responsibilities. These combined training formats reduce the training cost per student and allow all your personnel to share the same basic training experience.

We can also combine training with in-depth audits and consulting services. We will be happy to discuss your training and consulting needs and design a program to meet those needs most efficiently.

If we do your on-site training, we will also use our laser experience to help you solve problems related to laser system and application design and maintenance. This is more likely to be of greater benefit to new laser users and new applications. The extra level of expertise we provide can result in savings that offset the cost of your training.
