Online Laser Safety Courses

Kentek's Laser Safety U laser safety training courses and services are now available at https://www.kenteklaserstore.com
  • This Basics of Laser Safety course is provided as a supplement to an organizations’s Laser Safety Program. This course is designed to compliment information delivered to the user by the individual responsible for laser safety training, such as a Laser Safety Officer (LSO). This course was produced to meet all basic laser safety training requirements and present laser safety from the laser user's point of view. After completing this course the user will be ready to learn the specific information they will need to know about their laser and job situation. This course is designed primarily for class 1 laser operators and incidental personnel in laser areas. It includes all the training topics required by the American National Standard for Safe Use of Lasers. This course consists of seven modules. The first three modules provide background information on lasers and laser hazards. The remaining four modules describe how laser hazards are controlled in the workplace.
  • This online course provides basic industrial laser safety training for users and laser maintenance personnel who may enter the Nominal Hazard Zone of a Class 3B or Class 4 industrial laser environment. Information is based on ANSI Z136.1 “Safe Use of Lasers” standard. This course is suitable for new laser users as well as users who need refresher training. Upon completion of the course modules and quiz a Certificate of Completion is presented. Course length is approximately 35 minutes.
  • Kentek’s online laser safety micro courses are designed to provide focused and specific information on a narrow area of laser safety. This laser safety micro course provides an understanding of how lasers work, the difference between laser light and “normal” light, different types of lasers and what they are used for, different output characteristics of lasers and the laser hazard classification scheme according to ANSI Z136.1 “Safe Use of Lasers” standard.
  • Kentek’s online laser safety micro courses are designed to provide focused and specific information on a narrow area of laser safety.  This laser safety micro course serves as refresher training for existing Laser Safety Officers and will address key points needed to know in how to interpret Section 4 – Control Measures of ANSI Z136.1 “Safe Use of Lasers” standard.  Information and examples of fully enclosed to fully open beam paths and how to best control them are covered as well as safe laser beam alignment practices.  This micro course will benefit both industrial and laser/research lab environments.
  • Kentek’s online laser safety micro courses are designed to provide focused and specific information on a narrow area of laser safety.  This laser safety micro course serves as training for existing Laser Safety Officers in a university or research lab environment.  Discussion on how to approach and perform an audit will be covered.  Examples and photos of laser labs are presented with control measure solutions.
  • Kentek’s online laser safety micro courses are designed to provide focused and specific information on a narrow area of laser safety.  This laser safety micro course will review a history of laser accidents, discuss laser injuries of the eye and skin and discuss specific examples of past incidents.
  • Kentek’s online laser safety micro courses are designed to provide focused and specific information on a narrow area of laser safety.  This laser safety micro course will conduct a review of Laser Hazard Analysis concepts including Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE), Optical Density (OD), Nominal Ocular Hazard Distance (NOHD) and Nominal Hazard Zone (NHZ).  Quantifying and evaluating laser hazards will be discussed along with calculation examples explained.
  • This online Laser Safety Officer (LSO) course is intended for individuals in industrial, research, or educational institutions required to perform the duties of LSO as defined by ANSI Z136.1 “Safe Use of Lasers” standard. For those attendees looking for more in-depth knowledge on hazard analysis there is an additional module available. This module contains examples demonstrating laser hazard analysis using EASY-HAZ™ LSO software. This course meets all training requirements of OSHA and ANSI.
